Who am I?

My name is Nick and I have been an avid internet lurker and consumer of the “online discourse” since I was 10 years old. I studied journalism in school, where I quickly became disillusioned with what the industry turned into. Instead of joining the content industrial complex, I became a marketer to pay the bills. Ten years later, I’m starting to find my voice again.

I have a great partner, two amazing pets, and I hope to be a father someday. I enjoy basketball, fishing and overly complicated strategy games. I’m here to become a better thinker, a better writer and a better human being.

I will be looking into conversations about media, technology, culture, politics and whatever else is changing the world around us. There could even be a short story or two. I’m excited to be creating content again, and I hope you choose to follow me on this journey.

Reject tribalism and groupthink

I firmly believe that attachment to ideology is the enemy of truth and knowledge, because it encourages people to ignore inconvenient facts and opinions. This site is about finding points of agreement and resisting the urge to oversimplify the world.

Fight echo chambers

I hate thought bubbles and I often read things that I disagree with. I see this as a founding principle of this site, and I hope to bring new sources to light for you, regardless of your politics.

Become more curious

The world is a terrifying place and we have plenty of problems, but I am an optimist. We can solve anything if we have the right information and attitude.

Find like-minded thinkers

The world is too complex to do this alone. Let’s help each other get smarter.
